Acceleration problems and unusual fuel consumption in a 2013 Benz

Hello everyone, my 2013 Benz with 124290 km and a gasoline engine is struggling with some problems that are really worrying me. Feedback from the engine is really bad and it bucks quite a bit when accelerating, apart from the fact that it sometimes just stalls. Fuel consumption is in the basement and there's a nasty cloud of exhaust fumes when I accelerate, quite a stink. My suspicion is that the fuel volume regulator has gone - I've had trouble with it at the mechanic before. Have any of you had similar experiences and perhaps a tip as to which bugs are normal and which are not? Thank you very much!

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Benz is experiencing acceleration issues, stalling, excessive fuel consumption, and emitting exhaust fumes. The suspected cause is a faulty fuel volume regulator, previously problematic. A similar case was resolved by replacing a faulty wiring harness/plug, suggesting a visit to a mechanic for diagnosis and repair.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had similar problems with my 2010 Benz. Also with a gasoline engine. Had similar symptoms: lousy engine performance, large clouds of exhaust fumes and a temperamental engine. After some back and forth at the garage, it turned out to be a faulty wiring harness/plug. This was a really serious problem. It took a while, but after the guys at the garage replaced it, it ran like new again. So my advice to you is to get your car checked out at the garage. The mechanic will undoubtedly find the actual fault and fix it. Don't worry, it's part of the garage's routine. I hope this helps you! Good luck.

Hey, that's a valuable tip, thanks for that! Wiring harness/plug, hmm, I really wouldn't have thought of that. Well, I guess my little darling will have to go back to the workshop... Do you happen to remember how much the repair cost you? And did everything stay fine afterwards or were there other problems? Thanks in advance!

Hey, sure, I still remember the costs. I put €155 on the table for the wiring harness/plug in the event of damage. Not a cheap affair, but the investment was definitely worth it, because since then my Benz has been purring like a kitten again! You asked if everything stayed good afterwards - yes, definitely! After I had the fuel volume regulator fault fixed, I had no more problems. But as I said, don't worry, just take your car to a mechanic and he'll sort it out! Good luck!

Hey, really great, thanks for the info! 155 is not a lot of money, but if it fixes the problems, it's definitely worth it. I'm reassured to hear that everything went well for you afterwards! I'll take my good old Benz to my mechanic and hope for the best. Have a nice day! See you then!
