Accord Overheating Slow Warmup
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Honda Accord is experiencing overheating and slow warm-up issues, with a suspicion that the map thermostat might be the cause. A similar past issue in another Accord suggested the thermostat housing could be the problem, potentially indicated by coolant leaks or residue. Despite no visible leaks or low coolant levels, the decision was made to have the thermostat professionally checked and possibly replaced to prevent further complications.

Coolant leaks, huh? I haven't seen any puddles, but I'll definitely check the reservoir level. Where exactly should I be looking for leaks around the thermostat housing? Any telltale signs I should be aware of?

Check around the thermostat housing itself, where it connects to the engine. Look for any dried coolant residue – it usually looks kinda crusty or discolored. Honestly, even if you don't see anything obvious, with those symptoms, I'd say it's worth getting it checked by a professional. Could save you from a bigger headache later.

I appreciate the advice. I did check for leaks, didn't see any, and the coolant level seems fine. But based on your experience and what I've read, it does seem like the thermostat. I'm going to take it to the shop. They quoted me about 350€ for the thermostat replacement. Better safe than sorry, I guess.

I had a similar issue with my Accord a while back, though mine's an older model. Same symptoms: overheating and slow warm-up. I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like the thermostat housing might be the culprit. Have you noticed any coolant leaks? That was my first clue something was up.
