Active hood fault airbag light

Hi, I've got a 2010 Peugeot 3008 diesel with a strange issue. The on-board computer keeps displaying 'Active hood fault' and the airbag warning light is constantly on. I've checked the error memory and it confirms the active hood fault. I even noticed the spring actuators seem to have been triggered. I'm suspecting a defective acceleration sensor, could that be it?

Hey, that sounds familiar! I have a Peugeot 3008 too, though I'm not sure about the year, but I had something similar happen. The 'Active hood fault' message popped up, and it felt like my dashboard was throwing a party with all the warning lights! Could be a dodgy sensor, like when your phone thinks it's upside down even though it isn't.

Interesting! When you had the problem, did you also have the airbag light on and the actuators already triggered? How did you eventually resolve the issue? Was it really the sensor, and if so, which one?

Yep, airbag light was definitely on, a constant companion! As for the resolution... well, I'm not really a mechanic, more of a 'drive it 'til it breaks' kinda guy. Took it to a workshop, they fiddled with it, and the lights went away. I think they mentioned a sensor, so you might be on the right track, but honestly, I'd let the pros handle it. It's like trying to fix your computer by hitting it – sometimes it works, but usually it makes things worse!

Thanks for the info! It seems like I'm on the right track with the sensor. I'll take it to a workshop as well. For the record, they confirmed the acceleration sensor was defective, and replacing it cost me 315€. All good now!
