Active Hood Fault Airbag Warning

I'm getting a persistent "Active hood fault" message on my 2022 Ford Kuga Hybrid (37598 km). The airbag warning lamp is also on. Diagnostics indicate the spring actuators have been triggered. Could this be a defective acceleration sensor?

I've seen similar things on the Kuga. Do you know the specific error code? When the active hood system throws a fault like that and the airbag light comes on, it could be a problem with the collision detection system. Have you checked the wiring harness and connectors to the impact sensor? Sometimes a loose connection or corroded terminal can cause these issues.

I don't have the specific error code. I haven't inspected the wiring harness or connectors myself. I was trying to see if a defective acceleration sensor aligned with the symptoms. Are you suggesting the impact sensor might be more likely?

It's hard to say without the code, but yes, I suspect the impact sensor or its wiring might be the cause. It's all tied together. Because the airbags are involved, I’d strongly suggest getting it looked at by a workshop.

The workshop visit revealed a defective acceleration sensor as suspected. The repair cost was 315€.
