Active hood fault and airbag light

Alright, I'm getting an "Active hood fault" message on my 2018 Mini Cabrio. Airbag light's on too. Ran diagnostics and it's showing an error, plus the spring actuators have triggered. Suspect it could be a defective acceleration sensor, could this be related to the car safety and the pedestrian safety?

I had a similar issue on my Mini Cabrio a while back. "Active hood fault" message, airbag light. The spring actuators triggering points towards the pedestrian safety system. Have you checked the acceleration sensors? That's often the culprit in these cases, as it messes with the collision detection system.

Acceleration sensors, got it. Is there a specific one I should be looking at, or are we talking about replacing them all? Any way to test them before throwing parts at it?

Yes, it was indeed an acceleration sensor. Replacing all of them is not necessary. Unfortunately, a proper diagnosis usually requires specialized equipment. The system is quite sensitive. I would suggest taking it to a workshop. They should be able to pinpoint the faulty sensor quickly and confirm it's related to the active hood system fault.

Just wanted to update: you were spot on. Had it checked out, acceleration sensor was indeed the culprit. 315€ later, the active hood fault is gone and the airbag light is off. Thanks for the help!
