Adam Fuel Pressure Sensor Fault

I'm having trouble with my 2013 Vauxhall Adam, gasoline engine. It's got about 36355 km on it. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the engine is running really rough. Sometimes it even stalls when I'm idling, which is a pain. I've also noticed it jerks a bit when I accelerate. I plugged in an OBD2 scanner, and it's showing a defective fuel pressure sensor. I had a look, and the cable and plug connection seems a bit dodgy. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had a similar experience with my Adam. The fuel pressure sensor is responsible for monitoring the fuel pressure in the fuel rail and sending that information to the engine control unit (ECU). The ECU uses this information to control the fuel injectors, which spray fuel into the engine's cylinders. A defective sensor can lead to all sorts of problems, especially regarding the fuel/air mixture. Is the sensor connector properly attached?

Thanks for the info! Yeah, the connector looks like it's attached, but it's a bit loose. I tried wiggling it a bit, and the engine seemed to run even rougher for a second. Does that sound like the same thing you experienced?

That does indeed sound very familiar. Given the symptoms and your observations regarding the connector, it's highly probable that the cable or plug connection is defective, as you initially suspected. While it might be tempting to try a DIY fix, I would recommend taking it to a workshop to properly diagnose and resolve the issue. A faulty fuel pressure sensor can negatively impact the fuel injectors, which may lead to even more problems.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on – it was a defective connection to the fuel pressure sensor. They replaced the connector and sensor, and it cost me about 95€. The car is running perfectly again now!
