Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I have tried my spare key, and it's doing the exact same thing. The engine cranks, starts for a second, and then cuts out. I don't have remote start installed, so I can't test that. Any ideas?

Given that both keys are exhibiting the same behavior, it seems likely the problem lies within the vehicle's immobilizer system itself, rather than the key programming. Think of it like a gatekeeper who has forgotten the password. It could be a fault in the immobilizer module or a wiring issue affecting the signal between the key and the engine control unit. At this point, the most sensible course of action would be to take it to a qualified workshop. The error memory should provide valuable information to guide their diagnostics.

Thanks for your advice! I took it to the shop today. They said the key needed to be reprogrammed. 45€ later and it's all sorted.

Based on your description, the symptoms indeed point towards an immobilizer issue. The fact that the engine starts briefly before cutting out is a classic sign. The immobilizer system, part of the anti-theft system, is not recognizing the key. Have you tried using a spare key? This could help determine if the issue is with the key itself or the car's immobilizer system. When it comes to the anti-theft system, is the remote start not working as well?
