AdBlue Nightmare Mercedes X Klasse Wont Start

My 2019 Mercedes X Klasse diesel is giving me a massive headache. The AdBlue tank seems to be empty, even though I filled it up recently. The service light is on, and I'm getting a dashboard alert about it. Now the engine won't even start! I saw something about a defective AdBlue output from the tank to the dosing unit being a possible cause. Has anyone else had this issue? Fuel efficiency has been terrible lately, and I'm worried about emission standards now.

I think I can provide some insight here. I have the same model, although I don't know if the build year affects this. I once encountered a similar situation with my AdBlue system. If the service light is illuminated and the computer prevents starting, it could well be related to the emission control system which includes the AdBlue system. Does the error message mention anything specific, or just a general AdBlue error?

The error message is pretty generic, just says 'AdBlue Empty - No Engine Start'. Could you tell me a bit more about what happened with yours? Were the symptoms the same? How was it fixed?

Okay, the same message pretty much confirms it. In my case, it turned out the AdBlue wasn't being properly injected, which the computer interprets as the tank being empty, even if it isn't. I think it is best to get it checked, because an engine that won't start is not something you can fix yourself.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right - they diagnosed a faulty AdBlue pump. The total repair cost was around 250€. Hopefully, this will restore my fuel efficiency too.
