AdBlue tank error on Mercedes E Klasse diesel
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Mercedes E Klasse diesel is experiencing an AdBlue tank empty error despite being full, preventing the car from starting. The issue may be due to a defective AdBlue output or a faulty injector. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by diagnosing and replacing a faulty AdBlue injector. The suggested solution is to have a workshop diagnose and potentially replace the injector, which successfully resolved the issue in this case.

Injector, huh? That's a good shout. I was so focused on the tank itself I didn't even think about that. How did you figure out it was the injector and not something else? Was it easy to diagnose?

Well, initially, I was just as lost as you are now! I spent ages researching online and even tried topping up the AdBlue multiple times – total waste of time and money. Eventually, I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They ran some diagnostics and pinpointed the injector pretty quickly. Honestly, unless you're super confident with car repairs, I'd suggest doing the same. It’s a pain, but probably quicker and safer than trying to fix it yourself!

Cheers for the advice! Took it to my local workshop, and you were spot on – faulty AdBlue injector. They replaced it, cleared the error codes, and now it's running like a dream. Cost me around 260€ in the end, but at least the annoying dashboard alert is gone. Thanks again for the help!

Ugh, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same problem with my BMW 3 series a few years back. Constant dashboard warnings about emissions control, the whole nine yards! It turned out to be a faulty AdBlue injector, messing with the diesel exhaust. Did you check the injector? It could be clogged or just plain broken. It's frustrating when fuel efficiency is impacted by these things. Why can't these systems just work?
