Cheers for the insight! Good to know I was on the right track with my suspicions. My GS has been around the block, currently clocking in at 157057 KM. As for the last service, it wasn't too long ago, but TBH, I wasn't entirely happy with the results, so might be shopping around for a new one soon. Thanks for the advice about going to a trusted shop I'll keep that in mind. It's a jungle out there when it comes to car repairs!

Hey again! Ah, the ol' girl's got a few miles then, eh? That does make things like a dodgy exhaust flap more likely. Given your mileage — now, I'm no professional like I said, but I reckon keeping a regular service schedule would be pretty important moving forward. That'll help you nip these annoying issues in the. And yeah, I hear you about searching for a new service, it's a real mission sometimes! But it's worth it when you get a mechanic who knows his stuff and won't take you for a ride, especially when you're dealing with these sorta things. Make sure they're certified, you'd want someone who really knows the ins and outs of a Lexus. Anyway, best of luck with it! Let us know how you get on over here. Cheers!

You're a legend for taking the time to respond! So it seems regular servicing is the way to go. Makes sense. I mean, better safe than sorry and all that. And no joke about it being a mission to find a good service. I'll definitely check for the mechanic's certification like you've suggested. Can't thank you enough for your advice! Fingers crossed it will help sort out my roaring Lexus. I'll keep you posted for sure. Catch you later! Cheers!

Hey, had a similar issue with my '04 Lexus IS a while back - yeah, lil' sister of your ride. I'm no mechanic, but I've got a fair bit of experience tinkering with cars. Hit up my local garage when I had this issue. Dude there reckoned it was indeed a dodgy exhaust flap, and swapped it out for a new piece - cost me 190 Euro. Everything's been smooth sailing since then. Make sure you go to a trusted shop though, not someone who'll beguile you with car jargon. By the way, could you give us more details about the mileage and condition of your car? That might help to pinpoint some possibilities.
