Albea Alarm System Failure

I'm having a strange issue with my 2011 Fiat Albea, it's a gasoline engine. It only has 42517 km on it. Recently, the anti-theft alarm system seems to have stopped working. I noticed an error message in the car's error memory, but I don't know what it means. Basically, the alarm doesn't function at all anymore. I've checked the fuses, and they all seem fine. Could it be a simple power failure, or is it more complicated than that?

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Fiat Albea experienced a failure in its anti-theft alarm system, which stopped functioning entirely. The issue was traced to a coding problem where the alarm system was incorrectly trying to activate the indicator lights during locking. The solution involved re-coding the alarm system, which resolved the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Astra. The alarm system went haywire, and it turned out to be a weird coding issue. The alarm was trying to activate the indicator lights during locking, but something glitched. Might be worth checking if your Fiat's alarm system is coded to do something similar with the optical locking. It could be a faulty alarm sensor or even the immobilizer acting up. Have you noticed any other electrical issues?

That's interesting. So, when you say 'coded to activate the indicator lights', do you mean like when you lock the car with the remote, the lights flash? Is that something a regular mechanic could check, or is it a Fiat specialist kind of thing?

Yeah, exactly. When locking or unlocking, the alarm system was supposed to trigger the blinkers, but it wasn't working right, causing the whole system to fail. I'm no expert, but I'd say any decent workshop with the right diagnostic tools should be able to check the coding. It's probably best to get it checked by a professional. Could save you a lot of time and headache.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on! It was indeed a coding issue with the alarm system trying to activate the indicator lights. They re-coded it, and it's working perfectly now. The repair cost was 45€. Appreciate the help!
