Albea Multifunction Steering Wheel Failure
Summary of the thread
The multifunction steering wheel of a 2004 Fiat Albea failed completely, showing an error code, possibly due to a bad connection in the steering column. Initial checks of the fuses showed no issues. The error code B1000 suggested potential problems like a faulty clock spring or communication error within the steering control module. The solution involved replacing a defective cable connection in the steering wheel, which resolved the issue.

Yeah, the code is B1000 or something like that, I don't remember exactly. I checked all the fuses, they seem fine. Is there a specific part of the steering column wiring I should be looking at, like a common point of failure?

Okay, B1000 could point to a variety of issues, including a faulty clock spring or a communication error within the steering control module. Given that you've checked the fuses and are still getting the error, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. It is most likely a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. Replacing it is probably the only solution.

Took it to a local garage, and you nailed it – faulty cable connection in the steering wheel. They swapped it out, cleared the error, and everything's working perfectly now. Total cost 95€.

Sounds like a classic electrical gremlin. The error code is definitely a good starting point. Do you know the specific code? Have you checked the fuses related to the steering wheel controls? It might be something simple before digging into the steering column itself.
