Albea rain light sensor malfunction

I've got a 2005 Fiat Albea diesel with 135807 km. The rain-light sensor is throwing an error. Auto wiping doesn't work in rain, headlights don't auto-control, and the speedometer dimming is dead. The lights switch on by themselves. Is this a known sensor issue?

Summary of the thread

The 2005 Fiat Albea's rain-light sensor malfunctioned, causing issues with auto wiping, headlight control, and speedometer dimming. A potential cause identified was bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield, affecting the sensor's functionality. The solution involved replacing and recalibrating the sensor, which resolved the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had similar issues on my Albea. Could bubbles under the gel pad on the windshield, where the auto sensor sits, be the problem? Have you checked for any?

Bubbles under the gel pad? Is that a common problem? What made you think of that?

It happened to me. A mechanic suggested it. These sensors are sensitive. It's hard to diagnose remotely. A workshop can pinpoint the problem with diagnostic tools and calibration.

You were right. Bubbles had formed under the gel pad, messing with the sensor. Replacement and recalibration cost 62€ and fixed it. Thanks!
