Albea start stop failure

Hi, I have a 2003 Fiat Albea with a gasoline engine and 124369 km on the clock. The start-stop system has stopped working. The error memory has an error stored, the engine shuts off unexpectedly, and the warning light in the speedometer comes on. Anyone experienced something similar?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Fiat Albea experienced a failure in its start-stop system, with symptoms including unexpected engine shutdowns and a warning light activation. The problem was traced to a defective battery, which was approximately four years old. Replacing the battery resolved the issue, restoring the start-stop functionality.

Sounds like a battery issue. How old is your battery?

The battery is about 4 years old. Could a slightly older battery really cause all these problems?

Yes, a heavily discharged or defective battery can cause those exact symptoms on a start-stop system. I'd suggest getting it checked professionally.

Thanks, I will do that. Took it to the shop, they said the battery was defective and replaced it. Cost me 290€ but it fixed the issue!
