Albea throttle valve issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Fiat Albea with 55271 km is experiencing reduced engine power and a check engine light, suspected to be due to a throttle valve issue. Possible causes include a defective accelerator pedal module or faulty electronics inside the throttle valve. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a workshop, which confirmed the issue as a defective throttle valve due to faulty electronics, leading to a successful repair.

Yeah, the engine idling has been a bit rough, and I think fuel efficiency has dipped. There's definitely a response delay when accelerating. Did those symptoms line up with what you saw?

Absolutely, those were exactly my symptoms too. Especially that response delay – super annoying, right? Given that we have similar issues, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. They can properly diagnose the throttle valve and see if it actually is the accelerator pedal module or the electronics inside. Don't keep driving like that!

Thanks a lot for the input! Took it to a workshop as suggested. Diagnosis confirmed a defective throttle valve, caused by faulty electronics inside. Repair cost was 265€. Runs great now!

Oh, that sounds familiar! I have an Albea too. The check engine light plus the loss of power really points to something similar that I experienced. Was the engine idling rough too? How’s your fuel efficiency been, and have you noticed any delay when you press the accelerator?
