Allion Key Battery Low Warning

My 2001 Toyota Allion with a gasoline engine is showing a 'key battery low' warning. Keyless access no longer works, and an error is stored. Unlocking/locking is impaired. I suspect the key battery is dead. Anyone else experienced this?

I think I had something similar with my Allion. The range got terrible, then the key stopped working unless I was right next to the car. Did you try the spare key to see if it does the same thing?

That's interesting. I haven't tried the spare key yet. But did your error memory also store something? And how long did it take for your key to completely fail?

Yeah, there was definitely an error code when they plugged it in at the shop. Honestly, it went from a bit annoying to completely dead within like a week, maybe less. I'd say, get the spare out, but prepare to visit a workshop soon.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I tried the spare, and it works fine, so it's definitely the battery. I went to the shop; the replacement cost me 37€. Problem solved!
