Thanks for sharing your Tiguan experience. That wiring harness issue sounds exactly like what I am dealing with on my Amarok, the unusual malfunction indicator lights and module failures match perfectly. The OBD-II scan keeps showing communication errors across multiple control modules, just like your case. I will definitely have the wiring inspected, especially around the firewall area you mentioned. Did you remember roughly how much the complete repair ended up costing? And has everything been working properly since the fix, or have you had any recurring engine diagnostics issues?

Had the repair done last week and everything is working perfectly now. The unusual system failures and warning signals completely stopped after they fixed the faulty cable connection to the control module. The complete engine diagnostics and repair came to 155€, which covered testing the BUS system connections and replacing the damaged wiring. The mechanic showed me where the original cable had worn through, causing all those intermittent communication errors between modules. The check engine light hasnt come back on since the repair, and all vehicle systems are communicating properly. The audio, navigation and other control modules are all functioning as they should. Looking back, the unusual glitches were definitely frustrating, but the fix was actually simpler than expected once they properly diagnosed the root cause. If your symptoms match what I experienced, having them check those specific connections could save you time and prevent more serious issues down the line.

After getting that helpful advice, I took my Amarok to a certified mechanic who specializes in electrical systems. The scan tool confirmed multiple communication errors across the control modules, just as suspected. The technician found damaged wiring near the firewall, with several exposed cables causing intermittent system failures. The complete engine diagnostics revealed the root cause was indeed a faulty wiring harness connection, similar to what was described. Total repair cost came to 180€, including the malfunction indicator check and wiring replacement. Been driving for two weeks now and all the unusual electronic glitches have completely stopped. The audio system, navigation, and all other modules are working perfectly. No more check engine light issues either. Really glad I got this sorted before it led to more serious problems. The OBD-II readings are all normal now and the vehicle is running like new again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction with this electrical issue.

Had exactly the same symptoms on my 2017 VW Tiguan 2.0 TDI. The malfunction indicator and system failures were caused by a damaged wiring harness connecting to the BUS system control unit. The check engine light would out of nowhere activate, modules would reset, and the scan tool showed multiple communication error codes. The issue was quite serious since the BUS system controls critical vehicle functions. A complete diagnostic revealed corroded pins in the main connector and some wires with damaged insulation near the firewall. The entire wiring harness section needed replacement along with the control unit connector. The warning signals would come and go because the connection would temporarily restore when the vehicle hit certain bumps or temperature changes affected the wiring. This makes it tough for mechanics to diagnose without proper testing equipment. For a proper fix, the technician needs to: Perform complete system diagnostic, Check voltage drops across all control module connections, Test BUS system communication signals, Inspect wiring harness for damage, Replace affected components and verify repair Since this involves critical vehicle systems, recommend having it properly diagnosed at a shop specializing in VW electrical systems.
