Amaze preheating lamp and smoke issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Honda Amaze diesel owner is experiencing issues with the preheating lamp not switching off, the check engine light activating, and black smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a problem with the ignition system, possibly due to a defective preheating control unit or faulty connections. It is recommended to inspect the glow plugs and the control unit's connections to address incomplete combustion and resolve the issue.

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't checked the glow plugs specifically. The smoke is black. Could a faulty connection also be the reason?

Black smoke indicates incomplete combustion, often due to a rich fuel mixture, which aligns with a potential issue in the preheating or ignition system. Given the age and mileage, along with your suspicion of a cable or plug issue with the preheating control unit, a defective cable or plug connection of the component is a strong possibility. While individual glow plugs might contribute, a faulty control unit or its connections can disrupt the entire preheating process, leading to the symptoms you're experiencing. I recommend having a workshop check the entire system. I ended up paying 95€ for the repair.

Thank you for the information. I'll take it to the workshop and have them check the control unit and its connections. I appreciate the help!

I also have a Honda Amaze. A persistent preheating lamp and check engine light, accompanied by smoke, often points towards a problem within the ignition system. A faulty control unit is a prime suspect, especially if your diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration cycles aren't completing properly. Before condemning the control unit itself, have you checked the glow plugs? A failing glow plug can also trigger these symptoms, as the engine struggles to reach optimal temperature for combustion. Also, could you please clarify if the smoke is black, white, or blueish? That could help narrow down the issue.
