Amaze rough starts high fuel consumption

Experiencing weird issues with my 2018 Honda Amaze diesel. Engine runs rough during cold starts, and fuel consumption is higher than usual. Scanned and found a PTC heater error. Could the electric auxiliary heater be causing these problems? Anyone else had similar HVAC issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Honda Amaze diesel is experiencing rough engine starts and high fuel consumption, with a diagnostic scan revealing a PTC heater error. The electric auxiliary heater is suspected to be the cause of these issues. Replacing the defective PTC heater resolved the problems, leading to smoother engine performance and normal fuel consumption.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar. Had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa. Same symptoms – rough starts and higher fuel consumption in winter. The PTC heater went kaput. Cost a bit to fix.

Thanks! Was it the PTC heater for sure? Did replacing it solve all the problems completely? Did you measure the resistance of the heating element when it was defective?

Yep, mechanic confirmed it was the PTC heater. Replacing it sorted everything out. Don't remember the resistance value. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop.

Thanks a lot! Took it to the shop, and you were right – the electric auxiliary heater was indeed defective. Repair cost me around 350€. Engine runs smoothly now, and fuel consumption is back to normal. Appreciate the advice!
