AMG GT Hybrid Oil Pressure Issue

I'm inquiring about a potential issue with my 2019 Mercedes AMG GT Hybrid, which has 260410 km on it. Recently, the oil pressure warning lamp illuminated, indicating a potential engine oil problem. I suspect the engine oil might be contaminated, possibly from exceeding the maintenance interval. Could this lead to engine damage or oil sludge buildup? Are oil leaks or a faulty oil filter likely contributors?

That sounds concerning. I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series, though it wasn't a hybrid. The oil pressure light came on, and it turned out to be oil sludge from infrequent changes. Have you checked the oil level recently? Also, is there any noticeable oil leak under the car?

I appreciate the insight. The oil level appears normal, and I haven't observed any obvious oil leaks. However, considering your experience with the BMW, could the oil sludge issue arise even without significant oil loss? What were the primary symptoms you observed besides the oil pressure light?

Yes, in my case, the oil level was fine initially, but the oil sludge restricted the oil flow, causing the low oil pressure warning. I noticed a slight decrease in engine performance before the light came on. Given that you have no visible leaks, the oil filter could be partially blocked as well. Either way, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop sooner rather than later to prevent further engine damage.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Based on your recommendation, I took the AMG GT to a workshop. It turned out the maintenance interval was indeed exceeded, leading to oil sludge and reduced oil pressure. The oil and filter were changed, resolving the issue. The repair cost 165€.
