Arkana auxiliary heater fault
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Renault Arkana with a gasoline engine experienced a fault with the auxiliary heater, preventing it from activating. The issue was suspected to be related to components such as the fuse, heat control, temperature sensor, or blower motor. However, it was suggested that a defective glow plug might be the cause, as it is essential for the heater's operation. After further investigation, it was confirmed that the glow plug was indeed faulty, and the issue was resolved by replacing it.

A defective glow plug? I wouldn't have thought of that. Where is the glow plug located in my Arkana? Is it something I could check myself, or would I need special tools or diagnostic equipment?

I can't give you the exact location for your Arkana, as it varies between models, but I highly recommend against DIY unless you're very comfortable with car repairs. Given the error message and the potential for damaging the auxiliary heater system, visiting a workshop might be the best course of action. They can accurately diagnose the issue and replace the glow plug if that's indeed the problem.

It was indeed a faulty glow plug in the auxiliary heater. Repair cost me around 440€ including labor. Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction; really appreciate the help!

Your auxiliary heater problem sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Volvo V60, though it was a diesel. The parking heater would fail to start, throwing an error code every time. In my case, the culprit was a defective glow plug. A glow plug is a heating element, essential for combustion in cold starts or when the auxiliary heater kicks in. It could be the same for you, even with a gasoline engine, as some gasoline auxiliary heaters use a similar system to quickly heat the coolant.
