Arkana poor engine start and stalling

My 2021 Renault Arkana (gasoline engine) has started poorly at 40443 km. It occasionally stalls at idle, and the check engine light is on. I suspect a defective camshaft sensor, possibly due to a faulty encoder wheel on the camshafts. Has anyone had similar problems? Trying to get an idea what may be going on before service. Any insights appreciated.

Hello! I also have an Arkana, and what you're describing sounds very familiar. I had similar symptoms—rough starts, stalling, and that dreaded check engine light. It really sounds like you have the same issue I had. Is the engine misfiring at all?

Yes, there is some engine misfire, especially noticeable when the engine is cold. How was your issue resolved? Was it indeed the camshaft sensor, and if so, what was the approximate cost?

Yes, it turned out to be exactly as suspected: the camshaft sensor had gone bad, likely because of a defective encoder wheel. Unfortunately, it wasn't a cheap fix. Given the misfiring and stalling, I really recommend taking it to a reputable workshop for diagnosis. I remember that the repair cost around 695€ so expect something in that ballpark.
