Armada Transmission Issues

I have a 2020 Nissan Armada with a gasoline engine, and something's seriously wrong with the transmission. The paddle shifters are completely useless, the gearbox is slipping, and the shifts are unclean. There are awful grinding noises when it shifts, and slow response from the paddle shifters. The gearbox keeps going into emergency mode. I pulled the codes, and there's an error stored in the memory. Is this the end for my Armada?

That sounds frustrating! The emergency mode and stored error code point to a potential issue with the transmission control unit (TCU). You're experiencing slipping, unclean shifts, grinding, and unresponsive paddle shifters, which aligns with electronic control problems. Have you checked the TCU connections or related wiring for damage or corrosion? Do you know the specific error code?

I peeked at the connections, but I'm no electrical wizard. Everything looked okay, but who knows what's going on inside those wires? I wrote down the code somewhere but can't find it. Is it worth digging deeper myself, or am I just wasting time before a trip to the mechanic?

If you're not comfortable with in-depth electrical diagnosis, and you're already seeing severe symptoms, poking around may not be the best course of action. The grinding noise suggests you could cause further mechanical damage if you keep driving it. Based on the symptoms, a defective control unit is likely, maybe a faulty sensor or internal damage within the TCU. I would suggest taking it to a trusted shop for a professional diagnosis. Given the likely cause, be prepared for a potentially costly repair related to replacing or reprogramming the TCU. The bill will probably be around 1000€.

That confirms my fears, but at least I have a better idea of what to expect. Looks like a trip to the workshop is unavoidable. I will post the resolution. Thanks again for your help!
