Aslan Climate Control Failure

Climate control panel is dead on my 2015 Hyundai Aslan with the gasoline engine. I get an error, the heating barely works, and the AC won't switch on. I've checked some basic fuses, but I'm not sure what to do next. Could it be a faulty temperature sensor or something more complicated with the HVAC system?

Summary of the thread

The climate control panel in a 2015 Hyundai Aslan with a gasoline engine is non-functional, displaying an error, with minimal heating and non-operational AC. Initial checks of basic fuses were inconclusive, leading to speculation about a faulty temperature sensor or a more complex HVAC system issue. A suggestion was made to inspect the wiring harness, particularly the connectors to the climate control module, as similar issues have been resolved by addressing corroded or faulty connections. Ultimately, a workshop confirmed a faulty connection in the wiring harness, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my old BMW. The climate control went haywire. Have you ruled out any issues with the wiring harness? Specifically, have you looked at the cable or plug connections of the component? That was the culprit in my case. It's often overlooked but can cause all sorts of electronic faults.

Interesting. You mentioned the wiring harness on your BMW. Where exactly should I be looking? I'm comfortable checking connections, but I don't want to start tearing things apart without some direction. Any specific areas known to cause problems in the HVAC system's wiring?

Yeah, on my Beemer, it was a corroded connector behind the center console, near the blower motor resistor. The resistor regulates the fan speed. Because it's likely the cable or plug connection that's defective, I'd start by checking the connectors to the climate control module itself, and then trace the wiring back towards the HVAC unit. Honestly, though, with those symptoms, especially the error code, you might want to have a workshop take a quick look before you dig too deep. They can pinpoint the exact problem with their diagnostic tools.

Thanks for the advice! I appreciate you sharing your experience with the BMW. I took it to a workshop, and you were right - it was a faulty connection in the wiring harness. They fixed it for 95€, and everything is working perfectly again. Your suggestion to check the wiring harness saved me a lot of time!
