Astra automatic transmission slipping

Experiencing an issue with my 2003 Vauxhall Astra (gasoline engine). The automatic transmission seems to be acting up. Specifically, the check engine and transmission indicator lights are illuminated. I've noticed some slipping and unclean shifts, along with occasional grinding noises. Error memory indicates a potential torque converter lock-up clutch defect. Mileage is at 41474 km. Any thoughts?

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Astra, though I can't recall the exact year. Same symptoms - lights, slipping, and those awful noises. Turned out to be a converter fault in the auto transmission. Was your car throwing any specific error codes?

Yes, the error code pointed towards the torque converter lock-up clutch being defective. Did you also experience that, and what was the end result?

Yep, that's the one. Torque converter lock-up clutch. Honestly, it's not something I could fix myself. I took it straight to a workshop, and they confirmed the converter was shot. Best to get it checked out professionally. A new converter and labor cost around 2120€.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Looks like a trip to the workshop is in order. I'll post a resolution once I have a diagnosis. Thanks again!
