Error codes? Are they imperative before further action? I presumed the symptoms indicated a sensor malfunction. Would a diagnostic scan provide confirmation, or are there alternative ways to ascertain the fault's origin?

Getting those error codes read was crucial in my experience with the Peugeot. It pinpointed the faulty sensor, saving me from replacing the entire DPF. And yes, my fuel consumption went up. I'd take it to a trusted workshop for a diagnostic check before spending serious money. It's better to be sure.

I sought a diagnostic assessment, and it confirmed a defective exhaust back pressure sensor. The repair, including parts and labour, was 245€. Thanks for sharing your experiences; it proved invaluable.

Sounds familiar! I had similar issues with my 2016 Peugeot 308: warning lights, sluggish performance, awful smell, like driving a tractor. Did you get any error codes read? The garage determined my back pressure sensor was the problem. The particulate filter itself can be expensive, so I'd rule out cheaper options first. Was your fuel consumption also affected?
