Astra Electric Radio Signal Loss

I had a similar problem with my Astra, though not the electric version. The symptoms sound almost identical: error message, audio cutting out. It was driving me nuts! Did you check if the antenna cable is properly connected to the head unit? Sometimes those connections can get loose, especially if you've been driving on rough roads. When you say signal amplifier, do you mean the one integrated into the base of the antenna, or is there a separate unit somewhere in the car? I am not really sure about what components are used in the vehicle electronics, and I've only started looking into FM signal issues recently.
