Astra Electric Radio Signal Loss

Hi, I'm experiencing a strange radio issue in my 2023 Vauxhall Astra Electric, which has done 169243 km. I'm getting an error message on the infotainment system related to signal loss, and sometimes the audio just cuts out completely. I've checked the error memory via OBD-II and there's a stored error related to the antenna. I suspect the antenna itself is defective and after some research I've found that the antenna signal strength can degrade. Has anyone experienced similar issues?

I had a similar problem with my Astra, though not the electric version. The symptoms sound almost identical: error message, audio cutting out. It was driving me nuts! Did you check if the antenna cable is properly connected to the head unit? Sometimes those connections can get loose, especially if you've been driving on rough roads. It might also be a faulty signal amplifier. Where are you located? Radio interference can be a cause too.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the connection at the head unit, and it seems secure. When you say signal amplifier, do you mean the one integrated into the base of the antenna, or is there a separate unit somewhere in the car? I am not really sure about what components are used in the vehicle electronics, and I've only started looking into FM signal issues recently.

Yep, I meant the one usually at the antenna base. If you've checked the connection and it's still acting up, honestly, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. Diagnosing antenna issues can be a pain without the right equipment. They will likely have to check the vehicle electronics, and look for radio interference or signal strength issues.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on - the antenna was defective. The whole repair, including parts and labor, cost 255€. Everything is working great now. I really appreciate the help!
