Astra generator fault

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2005 Vauxhall Astra (gasoline engine). It's got 236251 km on the clock. I think the generator might be faulty. I'm experiencing reduced engine power, the battery warning light is on, it starts poorly, and the lights are flickering. I checked the error memory and there is indeed an error logged. Has anyone else experienced these symptoms?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Astra, though I can't remember the exact year. Weak lights and a battery light were the first signs. Then the engine started to misfire occasionally at low speeds. Have you checked the serpentine belt? That can sometimes cause problems with the charging system.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the serpentine belt yet, I'll take a look tomorrow when it's light out. Was your problem definitely a generator fault, or could it have been something else like a low battery?

For me, it turned out to be the generator. Battery was fine. After replacing the generator everything went back to normal. Considering the symptoms and the error code, it's highly probable that you have the same culprit. I'd advise a workshop visit for a quick check.

Appreciate the help, that confirms my suspicion. I took it to a workshop today, they confirmed the generator is defective. Repair will cost 960€. Thanks again for the insight!
