Atos emergency call malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Hyundai Atos experienced an emergency call system malfunction, indicated by an error message and warning light. Preliminary diagnostics suggested a defective cable or plug connection as the likely cause. After taking the car to a shop, a corroded connector on the emergency call module was identified and resolved by cleaning and reseating it, effectively solving the problem.

The diagnostics didn't pinpoint a specific connector, unfortunately. Is there a common culprit in these systems that I should check first, or a way to reset the emergency call system?

No common culprit I know of. But given it’s impacting multiple indicators (error memory, speedometer message, warning light), it strengthens the cable/connector theory. Could be a shared ground or power issue. Unless you have the wiring diagrams and the tools to safely probe around, I'd get a shop to take a look. Messing with safety systems blindly is like poking a sleeping bear.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to the shop. They found a corroded connector on the emergency call module. Cleaned and reseated it. Total cost: 95€. Problem solved.

Sounds like a comms issue, like a loose wire on an old telephone where the signal gets garbled. Did the diagnostics point to a specific connector or area? Maybe try reseating the relevant plugs before diving too deep.
