Atos MAF Sensor Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Hyundai Atos is experiencing issues such as increased fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke from the exhaust, potentially due to a faulty mass air flow (MAF) sensor. These symptoms suggest the MAF sensor might be affecting the air-fuel ratio, causing the engine to run inefficiently. Cleaning the sensor or checking the wiring harness could be initial steps, but professional diagnosis and replacement might be necessary to resolve the problem effectively. Ultimately, the MAF sensor was replaced by a mechanic, addressing the issues.

Thanks. I haven't cleaned the sensor or checked the wiring harness. Can you explain how to clean the sensor? What cleaning products do you recommend, and what precautions should I take?

Cleaning might help, but honestly, with those symptoms, it sounds like the sensor is toast. Think of it like trying to revive a flickering lightbulb – sometimes it works, but often it's just delaying the inevitable. I'd recommend getting it checked out by a professional mechanic. A faulty MAF sensor can lead to poor fuel economy and potential engine damage. Visit a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. I decided to take it to a mechanic. It cost 365€, but they replaced the defective mass air flow meter. Thanks again.

Sounds like a MAF sensor issue. When those go bad, it messes with the air-fuel ratio. Is the car running rough, like it's struggling to breathe? A faulty MAF sensor can cause all sorts of havoc, like a clogged artery in your car's engine! Have you tried cleaning the sensor, or checking the wiring harness for any damage?
