Thanks for sharing your experience. That sounds exactly like what I am dealing with. The vehicle temperature gauge started showing wrong readings last month, and now more issues keep popping up. I am wondering how much the repair ended up costing you? Also, have you experienced any other temperature sensor related problems since the fix? My A2 is getting older and I want to make sure I budget correctly for this repair, especially since the outside temperature sensor seems to affect so many systems.

Just got the repair done last week and happy to report the outside temperature sensor is working perfectly now. Unlike my initial assumption of needing extensive repairs, it turned out to be a much simpler fix than expected. The problem was traced to a damaged cable connection at the sensor plug. The mechanic identified the sensor malfunction through proper diagnostics and found the wiring issue quickly. Total cost was 95 Euro, which included fixing the faulty connection and running a complete temperature sensor calibration to ensure accurate readings. Since the repair: Temperature readings are accurate, AC works normally, Mirror heating functions properly, Washer nozzles operate as intended No temperature monitoring issues have occurred since the fix. The vehicle temperature gauge now shows consistent readings, and all related systems are functioning correctly. This ended up being much more affordable than the previous extensive repairs I mentioned, proving that proper diagnosis makes all the difference. For your A2, I would recommend getting it checked soon, as these sensor issues can affect multiple systems. The repair cost might be similar if its just a connection problem rather than needing full sensor replacement.

I finally got my car fixed last week and wanted to share the outcome. After getting recommendations here, I took my A2 to a different mechanic who specializes in sensor diagnostics. Turns out the outside temperature sensor itself wasnt the main culprit. The mechanic found corroded wiring near the sensor connection point. The car temperature sensor was actually working fine, but the bad connection was causing all those issues. Total repair came to 120 Euro, including: Cleaning corrosion, Replacing damaged wiring section, Running full system diagnostics, Recalibrating sensor All symptoms cleared up immediately after the sensor malfunction was addressed. The AC works perfectly now, mirror heating is back to normal, and the washer nozzles work even in cold weather. Temperature readings are accurate and stable. Really glad I asked here first instead of rushing into an expensive sensor replacement. A proper diagnosis saved me from unnecessary repairs and costs. Thanks again for the helpful advice, definitely worth finding a mechanic who knows their way around these sensor issues.

A faulty outside temperature sensor caused similar issues on my 2008 Audi A3 1.8T. The temperature monitoring system showed incorrect readings, affecting multiple components. The sensor diagnostics revealed that corrosion in the wiring harness near the front bumper caused intermittent connection issues. The sensor itself was functional, but the cable connection had deteriorated due to water exposure over time. The repair required: Removal of front bumper, Replacement of wiring harness segment, Sensor calibration after installation, Complete system reset This was a significant repair as access to the temperature sensor assembly required extensive disassembly. The symptoms matched exactly, AC malfunction, disabled mirror heating, and frozen washer nozzles. The faulty connection prevented the car from getting accurate outside temperature data, causing safety systems to default to protective mode. A proper sensor replacement with new wiring harness resolved all issues. Given the age of your A2, checking the wiring condition during repair is crucial. Consider requesting inspection of the entire sensor circuit, not just the sensor unit itself.
