Audi A4 Avant: Check engine light, engine failure and misfiring

Hello, I have a strange problem with my Audi A4 Avant gasoline engine. The check engine light is on and the engine switches itself off, plus there is a loss of engine power. The engine runs unevenly, jerks when accelerating and there is a strong smell of exhaust fumes. I suspect that misfiring could be the problem. Have any of you ever had similar problems and if so, how did you get them resolved at the garage? What were your experiences? I am very grateful for any advice.

Hi NZsolt, Given the error codes and the steps you've already taken, it seems like there might still be an air leak in the intake system causing the fuel mixture to be too lean. If you haven't already, consider having a smoke test done on the intake system to find any hard-to-detect leaks. Also, check the condition of your oxygen sensors as they play a crucial role in maintaining the correct air-fuel mixture. Please keep us updated on your progress.
