Hey, thanks for your quick and helpful reply! Changing the particulate filter sounds sensible, as you describe it. Do you happen to remember how much the replacement cost you at the garage? I know it's difficult to estimate, but a rough figure would be very helpful as a guide. And have you had any problems since the change or has everything gone smoothly? Thanks in advance! Best regards!

Hey, sure, I'll be happy to tell you how much it cost. Replacing the diesel particulate filter cost me €1550. Of course, that's not a lot of money, but what can you do if it's broken, it just has to be repaired. And to answer your second question: since I had the particulate filter replaced, my car has been running like clockwork again. So no more constant visits to the garage. The black smoke when accelerating and the smell from the exhaust are also gone. Even the check engine light has gone out. So carefree all round! All the best and hopefully your problem will be solved soon! Best regards!

Hey, that sounds great and lets me breathe a sigh of relief! 1550 is a lot of money, but if the car runs smoothly again afterwards, it's worth it. I now feel armed to go to the garage and not be so helpless. Your experiences have really put my mind at ease, thank you for the helpful exchange! I hope that my Audi will have the same result after the replacement and that it will drive like a new car again. I will keep you up to date! All the best and best wishes!

Hey, I had a similar situation, but with my 2016 Audi A4. Black smoke, reduced engine power and the check engine light, all there. Like you, the regeneration process of the DPF was also disrupted. Don't worry unnecessarily, this is a common problem with high-mileage diesel vehicles. At the workshop, they found that my diesel particulate filter was defective due to my high mileage and the whole vehicle exhaust was emitting an odor, presumably the same was the case with you. So, the problem with me was the particulate filter itself and not any sensors or control units. They had to remove the old diesel particulate filter and replace it with a new one. Don't worry, this is a standard procedure on these cars. So, in my experience, you probably need to change the particulate filter. It's best to have this done in a workshop. Even if it's annoying, of course, but it was definitely necessary. Best regards!
