Audi A5 Electronics Chaos After Service Visit

Thanks for sharing your experience. This matches exactly what happened with my Audi A5 last summer. How much did the workshop charge you for the diagnostic check and fix? In my case, they initially tried to bill me but I pushed back since it was their mistake. Also wondering if youve had any recurring electronic glitches since they corrected the transport mode? My car configuration has been stable after the fix, but Im always cautious about future workshop visits now and specifically ask them to verify the vehicle settings before returning the car.

Since getting the transport mode fixed through a proper diagnostic check at the workshop, my Audi A4 has performed flawlessly. All car electronics returned to normal operation immediately after they corrected the configuration settings. The workshop handled it free of charge since the vehicle was still under warranty and it was their oversight. Its smart to be vigilant about car configuration settings after service visits. A quick check of the automotive systems before leaving the workshop can prevent these issues. In your case, pushing back on the billing was absolutely correct, workshops should take responsibility for returning vehicles to proper operating mode after service. My car has now gone through several maintenance visits without any transport mode issues. I simply remind the technicians to verify all settings before completion. This preventive approach helps avoid unnecessary electronic glitches and repeated diagnostic checks.

Thank you all for the helpful replies. I took my Audi back to the workshop yesterday. Just as suggested, they found the car was stuck in transport mode after running a vehicle setting check. The automotive systems were completely mixed up because of this. The diagnostic check revealed they forgot to reset the car electronics during the last service. The technician connected their computer, performed a software update, and properly initialized all systems. Took about 45 minutes total. Initially they tried charging me 150 Euro for the diagnostic work, but I refused since it was their mistake from the previous service. The workshop manager agreed and waived the fee. The engine start and all electronics are working perfectly now. I made sure to document everything and got written confirmation of the fix. Will definitely double check all vehicle settings after future services to avoid this happening again.

Had a similar situation with my 2020 Audi A4 after routine maintenance. The automotive electrical systems showed identical symptoms, erratic navigation, inconsistent instrument cluster readings, and general electronic glitches. The workshop confirmed the car configuration was indeed left in transport mode. This happens when technicians forget to switch the vehicle back to normal operating mode after service. A simple diagnostic check revealed this was the root cause. The fix required proper initialization of the control modules and switching off transport mode through the dealer diagnostic system. While not a serious mechanical issue, it can affect multiple vehicle functions and should be addressed promptly. The workshop should handle this at no cost since its their oversight. Its a quick fix that takes about 30 minutes once connected to their diagnostic computer. Engine start and basic functions remain unaffected, but modern vehicle electronics need the correct mode setting to work properly. Best to contact the workshop immediately, as continuing to drive with incorrect system settings could potentially cause electronic module confusion.
