Audi A6 Error Codes Block System Readiness Test

Just had my 2013 Audi A6 2.0T at the mechanic and still have trouble. Getting error messages in the speedometer and stored error codes. Think it might be related to an incomplete system readiness check. Car still drives fine but worried about passing the next emissions test. Has anyone dealt with similar issues on their A6? Car has 150751 km and regular maintenance history. Wondering if I need specific drive cycles or car diagnostics to clear this up.

Had a similar situation with my 2016 Audi A4 2.0T. The onboard diagnostics showed multiple pending codes and system readiness monitors were not complete. The root cause was a failing oxygen sensor combined with a small exhaust system leak near the catalytic converter. The check engine light would intermittently appear, particularly during cold starts. Despite the error messages, the car drove normally, but the incomplete readiness status prevented passing emissions testing. The fix required: Replacing the faulty O2 sensor, Repairing the exhaust leak, Performing specific drive cycles to reset monitors For your A6, suggest having a professional check: 1. All oxygen sensors 2. Exhaust system integrity 3. Catalytic converter efficiency After repairs, the system needs about 50-100 km of mixed driving (city/highway) to complete all OBD readiness monitors. This ensures accurate emissions readings and helps prevent future error codes. This was a moderate repair issue, not engine-threatening but required proper diagnosis and repair to resolve the emissions compliance concerns.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Dealing with similar readiness monitor issues on my A6 right now. The symptoms match exactly what you described, error codes showing up and system readiness monitors not setting properly. Good to know about the O2 sensor and exhaust system connection. Could you share what the total repair cost was for your case? Also curious if youve had any recurring issues since getting it fixed? Want to budget properly and make sure I address everything during one shop visit to avoid multiple vehicle inspection trips. These readiness monitor problems can be tricky since they often need specific driving patterns to reset properly after repairs. The shop mentioned something about OBD readiness cycles too but wasnt very specific about the details.

Good news, I can give you an update on my A6 repair situation. Right after seeing the mechanic, the system readiness check issue was completely resolved through onboard diagnostics testing. The shop did a full OBD scan and found it was just a temporary glitch in the monitoring system, no actual parts needed replacement. Since the fix involved only resetting and verifying the readiness monitors through vehicle inspection equipment, there was no cost (0 Euro). The system has been working perfectly for over 6 months now with no recurring issues. The key was letting all monitoring cycles complete naturally after the reset. The shop advised driving normally for about 100km, mixing city and highway speeds. This allows the emissions test parameters to properly set. Much simpler than my previous experience with sensor replacements. For your budget planning, while I got lucky with a no-cost fix, its still smart to prepare for potential sensor or exhaust work just in case the readiness monitors dont reset properly after diagnostics.

Glad to wrap up this story and share what actually happened at my mechanic visit. Had the A6 checked last week and turned out I needed both an O2 sensor replacement and exhaust system repair. Total cost came to 850 Euro including parts and labor. The drive cycle process after repairs took about 3 days of normal driving. Had to mix up city and highway speeds to complete all the onboard diagnostics tests. The mechanic gave me a specific pattern to follow, start with a cold engine, drive at steady highway speeds, then do some stop-and-go traffic. All system readiness monitors finally passed, and the error messages cleared up completely. No more warning lights in the speedometer. Just passed emissions testing yesterday without any issues. Looking back, probably could have saved some money by addressing this sooner, but at least the car runs perfectly now. Good lesson learned about not ignoring those early warning signs in the OBD system.
