Audi Q3 Speaker System Goes Silent, No Audio Output

Seeking input on my 2017 Audi Q3 audio connectivity problem. The sound system has completely stopped working, no audio output from any source, including radio and Bluetooth. Volume control appears responsive but nothing comes through the car speakers. Has anyone encountered this and got it fixed? Would appreciate hearing about repair solutions and expected workshop costs. Also interested to know if there are common fuses or modules known to cause this type of audio failure in Q3s.

As someone with moderate experience working on Audis, I encountered an identical issue with my 2015 Audi Q2. The volume control appeared to work, but there was zero audio output from any source, whether auxiliary input, radio, or Bluetooth. After multiple attempts to reset the audio system, I took it to a workshop where they diagnosed a failed bass speaker that was causing a short in the entire audio system. The complete audio failure was actually a safety feature preventing potential damage to other components. The repair involved replacing the defective speaker and running a diagnostic on the full audio connectivity system. Total cost was 280 Euro, including parts and labor. The fix restored all audio functionality, including USB audio and Bluetooth. To provide more specific guidance for your case, could you share: Whether you notice any crackling sounds before the system failed, If your infotainment screen still functions normally, Whether the issue started suddenly or developed gradually, If you recently had any other electrical work done These details would help determine if your Q3 is experiencing the same underlying issue.

Thanks for the detailed input. Just had my car serviced at 105309 KM and they checked all basic electrical systems. The sound system stopped working completely right after that service. No crackling sounds before the failure. The infotainment screen works perfectly fine, I can see Bluetooth connections and all menu functions, but zero audio output through the speakers despite volume control appearing normal. Worth noting the auxiliary input is also silent, suggesting a deeper issue than just Bluetooth or radio problems. Will try checking the bass speaker connection first based on your experience.

I dealt with the exact same timing on my Q2, total audio failure right after routine service. Given your symptoms mirror mine so closely, especially with the infotainment display working but no sound quality from any source, this strongly suggests a disconnected or damaged speaker connection during the service work. The bass speaker issue I mentioned was actually discovered to be a loose connection that occurred during routine maintenance when they accessed nearby components. Since your car speakers went silent immediately post-service, I recommend having them inspect the wiring connections first before replacing any components. In your case, the complete lack of sound system output across all inputs (Bluetooth, radio, aux) but with functioning volume control display points to either: 1. Disconnected amp connections 2. Damaged speaker wiring during service 3. Audio connectivity module issue Based on how my repair went, request they specifically check: Speaker wiring harness connections, Amplifier connections, Ground wire integrity This type of post-service audio failure typically costs less to fix than a genuine component failure, my follow-up inspection and rewiring was only 90 Euro compared to the 280 Euro speaker replacement I initially paid for.

Thanks for the valuable follow-up info. After reading about your similar experience, I just called the service center that worked on my car. They acknowledged several recent cases where audio systems failed after routine maintenance due to wiring issues. They offered to inspect it free of charge since the problem started right after their service. The complete radio silence across all audio sources but perfect function of the infotainment screen definitely aligns with a wiring problem rather than component failure. Really hoping its just a loose connection they can fix on the spot rather than needing a full speaker or amp replacement. Will bring it in tomorrow and have them check all the points you mentioned, especially the speaker wiring harness and amp connections. The fact that both auxiliary input and Bluetooth have zero sound output while volume control works makes me optimistic its just a disconnected wire from the recent service work. Will update once I know more, but thanks again for helping narrow down the likely cause and saving me from potentially unnecessary parts replacement. The 90 Euro rewiring cost sounds much better than 280 Euro for new components.
