Audi Q4 Park Assist Sensor Failure Fix Needed

Thanks for the insights about the wiring connector. Just had my 30491 KM service last month, and everything worked fine until yesterday. The rearview camera still functions, but none of the proximity sensors respond. The issue started suddenly after parking in heavy rain. The fault message appeared without any warning lights on the dash. Tried the system restart but no change. The only recent work was a software update about 2 weeks ago. Interesting point about the faulty wiring, especially since mine happened after rain exposure. Will have it checked for similar connection issues. Noticed the obstacle detection system is also affected, which seems to support your wiring theory rather than individual sensor failure.

Thanks for the additional details, the rain exposure is a telling sign. After my repair, I learned that water intrusion through degraded seals around the wiring connectors is a common issue with these parking assist systems. The symptoms match exactly what I experienced, functioning camera but dead parking sensors and obstacle detection. In my case, the heavy rain had caused corrosion in the main connector to the control module, similar to what youre describing. The fact that it coincides with rain exposure strongly suggests youre dealing with the same wiring issue rather than a faulty control module or individual parking sensors. The workshop explained that water tends to follow the wire harness down to the lowest point, which is usually where the connector meets the radar sensors. Since youve had a recent software update, its worth mentioning that while my initial thought was software-related, the diagnostic scan clearly showed the parking assist failure was due to compromised wiring connections. The repair involved replacing the affected connectors and applying additional sealant to prevent future water ingress. Based on the timing and symptoms, Id bet youre looking at a similar fix. The good news is that its typically a straightforward repair once the affected connector is identified.

The rain connection makes a lot of sense, and Im relieved its likely just a wiring issue rather than a full control module failure. Will get it checked first thing next week. The timing with the recent software update had me worried, but hearing about your experience with similar symptoms after rain exposure is reassuring. My obstacle detection system showing the same behavior definitely points toward the wiring connector theory rather than individual proximity sensors failing. Will ask them to specifically check the connectors and seals around the parking sensors. The fact that my rearview camera still works while all other systems are down matches your experience perfectly. Hopefully its just corroded connections that need replacing. 95 Euro for parts and labor sounds reasonable, much better than replacing multiple sensors or the entire control module. Thanks for saving me some diagnostic time with your detailed repair experience. Will update once I get it sorted.

Had a very similar issue with my 2020 Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron. With some experience working on EVs, I can tell you that parking sensor problems are often related to wiring rather than the sensors themselves. The symptoms were identical, complete failure of the parking assist system, no response from proximity sensors, and blind spot sensors stopped working altogether. After some initial diagnostics, my workshop found that the main issue was a damaged wire connector going to the radar sensor control module. The fix was relatively straightforward, they replaced the faulty connector and checked all related cable connections. Total cost was 95 Euro for parts and labor. The parking assist system, obstacle detection, and all sensors started working perfectly after the repair. Would definitely recommend getting it checked soon, as driving without functioning parking sensors and blind spot detection can be risky, especially in tight spaces. Could you share: Have you noticed any warning lights besides the parking sensor fault? Did this start suddenly or gradually? Have you had any recent work done near the bumpers? Does the issue persist after a complete system restart? This information would help determine if youre dealing with the same connector issue or something else.
