Audi Q8 Emergency Call System Failure Alert

My 2019 Audi Q8 shows multiple warnings on the dash and a stored error code related to the emergency call system. The gasoline engine runs fine at 63872 KM, but I want to avoid another costly repair shop experience. Has anyone encountered similar automotive electronics issues with their Q8? What should I expect when I take it to a mechanic, and did the control module need replacement in your case? Looking for advice before booking an appointment.

I experienced a similar telematics malfunction in my 2016 Audi Q7. The emergency call system showed multiple diagnostic codes and warning lights. After inspection, the issue was traced to corroded wiring connections at the control module, not the module itself. The repair involved cleaning the connector pins and replacing a damaged wiring harness section. The connector had developed moisture damage over time, causing intermittent communication failures. This is a known issue that affects several Audi models from that generation. The fix was relatively straightforward but required specialized diagnostic equipment to properly identify the root cause. The system needed full recalibration after the repair to clear all error codes and restore normal function. While not a critical safety concern since it only affected the emergency call system, leaving it unrepaired could potentially trigger additional electronic system warnings. Getting it checked soon would be advisable to prevent more extensive electrical issues. The work took about 3 hours at the service center, including testing and verification. Consider requesting a full diagnostic scan before authorizing repairs, as this will confirm whether the control module truly needs replacement or if connector servicing will resolve the issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I went through something very similar with my Q8 last summer. The system reset and new wiring harness fixed most issues, though the warning lights took a few days to fully clear from the dash displays. Curious, do you remember roughly what the total repair cost was? Also, have you had any other call failure alerts or electronic glitches since getting it fixed? My diagnostic codes have stayed clear so far, but I want to know what to watch out for.

Good news regarding repair costs, the emergency call system malfunction has been completely resolved since visiting the mechanic. The total came to 95 Euro, which covered fixing a faulty cable connection at the control module. This was significantly less expensive than a full module replacement. The automotive electronics have worked flawlessly since the repair, with no recurring diagnostic codes or system warnings. The car safety features and emergency call functionality are operating exactly as designed. Even after several system reset cycles during regular maintenance, everything has remained stable. For preventive maintenance, it helps to regularly check the connection points for any signs of moisture or corrosion, especially around the control module area. This can help catch potential issues before they trigger multiple warning lights again.

I took the Q8 to my regular mechanic last week after reading the responses here. The diagnostic scan showed similar wiring issues rather than a failed control module. Total repair cost was 320 Euro including labor, which was a relief since I expected much worse. The telematics system needed a complete reset after they fixed the corroded wiring harness. All warning lights cleared within 24 hours. The SOS signal is now working properly and the diagnostic codes are completely gone. Much better outcome than my last experience when the transmission sensors failed. Been driving for 5 days with zero electronic glitches. The emergency call system works perfectly now. Really glad I checked here first instead of going straight for an expensive module replacement at the dealership.
