Thanks for the detailed response on the washer heater issue. My Audi S1 is showing exactly those symptoms, works fine in warmer weather but completely fails when freezing. Going to have it checked following your advice about the integrated heating element system. Would you mind sharing what the final repair cost was? Also curious if youve had any issues with the windshield washer system since the replacement? The windshield wipers still work perfectly, but Im concerned about potential complications with the clogged nozzles you mentioned.

Just wanted to update on my earlier washer heater repair experience. The fix turned out simpler than my initial case. Since seeing the mechanic, they found and repaired a faulty wire connection to the heating element, which completely resolved the issue. Total cost came to 95 Euro for the electrical repair, much less than the full unit replacement I originally needed. The fuse box and all other components checked out fine, so no other repairs were required. Since the fix, the washer fluid sprays perfectly even in freezing temperatures. The clogged nozzles I mentioned earlier werent an issue in your case, which is good news for your repair costs. If your symptoms match what I described, its worth having them check the electrical connections first before replacing the entire heating element. These washer heater malfunctions often stem from simple connection issues that develop over time. No problems with the system since the repair, and its been through two winters now. Just make sure to keep your washer fluid topped up with winter-grade solution to prevent any future issues.

Thanks for the input. Finally got the washer heater issue sorted out. Took it to a certified shop last week who diagnosed the problem during winter driving conditions. The culprit ended up being a loose ground wire near the washer motor housing which the mechanic spotted right away. Total bill came to 75 Euro for diagnostic and repair time. Much better than I expected after reading about complete unit replacements. They also cleaned out the nozzles while they were at it, though they werent badly clogged. The washer system now works perfectly even in freezing temps. The heating element kicks in properly and fluid sprays consistently. Good to have this resolved before the cold season really hits. Big relief it wasnt a major heater malfunction like I initially feared. Sometimes the simple fixes are the best ones.

Had the same issue on my 2011 Audi S3. The washer heater malfunction turned out to be more complex than initially suspected. After inspecting the system, found multiple problems linking to both the washer motor and electrical connections. The main culprit was a combination of clogged nozzles and a failing washer heater element. The heating component had corroded connection points, which is common in these models after extensive winter use. The fuse box inspection revealed the washer heater circuit was intact, pointing to the component itself. The repair involved replacing the entire washer fluid heating unit, not just the element. These units are integrated systems, and partial fixes often lead to recurring issues. This was considered a serious repair as it required removing several components to access the washer system assembly. Worth checking if your system shows these symptoms: no spray at cold temperatures but normal operation when warm, or intermittent spraying with unusual delays. These typically indicate heater element failure rather than just clogged lines.
