Audi S6 Washer System Dead: Both Front & Headlights Failed

My 2012 Audi S6 windshield washer suddenly stopped working completely. The washer fluid tank is full but nothing happens when pressing the stalk. I noticed the headlight cleaning system also does not activate anymore. Car has 28414 km and a gasoline engine. Has anyone experienced this issue and found a simple fix? Last mechanic visit was not great, so looking for advice before taking it back to a shop.

Had the same fault on my 2015 Audi S4. The pump and relay connection were failing, causing both the windshield washer and headlight cleaning system to stop working. Common issues that cause this: Corroded electrical connections at the washer pump, Failed washer pump relay, Damaged wire harness near the pump, Clogged hose between tank and nozzles The repair needed complete access to the wheel well area as the washer pump sits in a tough spot. A proper diagnosis revealed the connector had severe corrosion, likely from winter road salt exposure. The fix required cleaning the connections, replacing the damaged wiring section, and installing a new pump connector with better weatherproofing. This is considered a moderate repair as it affects safety systems, both regular visibility and the Xenon headlight cleaning function required by regulations. The washer pump powers both systems through shared hoses and electrical circuits. Best to have it checked professionally since accessing the components requires partial removal of wheel well liners and proper electrical testing equipment to verify the fault location.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I recently dealt with those failed washer pump symptoms on my S6 too. You mentioned everything matching what I found, no spray for either windshield or LED headlight cleaning system. Wanted to check how much the repair ended up costing you since corrosion issues can vary. Also curious if you noticed any signs of fluid leak around the wheel well before the system failed completely? Getting into that pump location definitely seems tricky with all the disassembly needed. Mine is starting to show similar problems and I want to budget appropriately.

Just got my S6 back from the repair last week. The Xenon headlight cleaning system and windshield washer are both working perfectly now. Total bill came to 165 Euro for fixing the faulty cable connection at the pump and relay. Regarding your leak question, actually never noticed any fluid around the wheel well before the system failed. The issue was purely electrical, with corrosion causing a poor connection. Once the wiring was properly cleaned and sealed, the entire system returned to normal operation. If your symptoms match what we experienced, the repair cost should be similar since the root cause is likely the same. The hardest part is accessing the system through the wheel well area, but a skilled mechanic can handle it efficiently. No need to replace the entire pump if the hose connections are still good and theres no actual leak in the system.

I took my S6 to the mechanic last week after getting valuable insights here. The fault turned out to be exactly as described, corroded connections affecting both the windshield washer and headlight cleaning systems. The repair was straightforward once they accessed the pump area. Total cost came to 190 Euro, slightly more than expected due to a clogged hose they discovered and replaced while in there. The mechanic showed me the old connections, completely corroded from moisture exposure. Really glad I went in informed about the likely issues. The whole repair took about 2 hours and both systems are working perfectly now. Much better experience than my last shop visit since I knew what to expect. Thanks for helping me avoid unnecessary parts replacement and costs.
