Thanks for sharing that detailed experience. Dealing with very similar symptoms now, and its reassuring to know the root cause in your case. The light intensity issues and erratic auto-leveling behavior match exactly what I am seeing. Did you remember roughly what the total repair cost was for both the servomotor and control module replacement? Also curious if youve had any other adaptive headlight issues since the repair was completed?

After fixing the defective servomotor in the headlight assembly, the range control system has worked flawlessly. The total repair came to 1040 Euro, which covered both parts and labor. The auto-leveling feature now functions exactly as intended, with no more erratic beam adjustment or warning lights on the dash. The shop did a complete recalibration of the lighting system after the repair, which seems to have resolved all the issues. The headlight switch and all electrical connections are operating perfectly now. Its been 18 months since the fix, and the adaptive lighting performance has remained stable with no additional problems. Looking back, having it properly diagnosed and repaired was definitely worth the investment, especially considering how crucial proper headlight function is for safety.

Had my mechanic look at it last week and turns out it was exactly what you described. My headlight malfunction was caused by a faulty servomotor, requiring both servomotor and control module replacement. Total bill came to 980 Euro, slightly less than yours but in the same range. The range control system is working perfectly now. The headlights adjust smoothly and stay at the correct height. No more dashboard warnings or error codes. The shop recalibrated everything after replacing the parts, and the electrical connectors were all thoroughly checked and cleaned. Really glad I got this sorted, driving at night is much safer now. Thanks again for sharing your experience. It helped me avoid wasting time with unnecessary diagnostics and getting straight to the actual problem.

Had the same issue with my 2016 Audi S6. The adaptive headlights started malfunctioning similarly, inconsistent beam adjustment and dashboard warnings. After thorough diagnostics, the problem was traced to a defective servomotor in the headlight assembly. The repair involved replacing both the servomotor and headlight control module since they work as an integrated system. The lighting system required recalibration after component replacement. The electrical connectors also showed corrosion and needed cleaning during the repair. This is considered a significant repair as it affects both safety and vehicle compliance. The headlight switch itself tested fine, but the module and servomotor issues were causing the erratic behavior you described. Worth noting that these problems typically dont resolve themselves and can worsen over time, potentially leading to complete adaptive headlight failure. The symptoms match exactly what you described, unusual height adjustments and persistent error codes. Based on my experience, this requires specialized diagnostic equipment and expertise with Audi lighting systems. Best to have it addressed at a shop familiar with adaptive headlight repairs on modern Audis.
