Thanks for sharing your experience with the fuel door issue. My SQ5 went through something very similar last month. Really helpful to know about the actuator being linked to the central locking, explains all those unusual error messages I was getting. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the repair cost you? Also wondering if youve had any other electrical faults pop up since getting it fixed? Just want to make sure this isnt going to be an ongoing headache with the lock actuator system. The release button in my car is working perfectly now, but always good to know what to watch out for in the future.

Great to share that the repair fixed the issue completely. The total bill came to 210 Euro for replacing the defective linkage and lock actuator. The electrical fault was isolated to just the fuel door system, and since the repair, no other issues have emerged with the central locking or release button functions. The cable release mechanism is now responding perfectly to both the interior button and key fob commands. Its been several months of trouble-free operation, which suggests the fix was comprehensive. The mechanic explained that once the lock actuator is replaced with the updated part, these problems rarely return. Just keep an eye on any unusual sounds when using the fuel flap. If you notice anything odd with the release button or electrical system, best to get it checked early before it develops into a bigger issue.

Thanks for the input. Finally got my SQ5 back from the shop yesterday. The cable release and electrical components for the fuel flap were completely shot, just like others mentioned. Repair cost was 280 Euro including parts and labor. The mechanic showed me the old lock actuator, totally corroded from water getting in. They installed the newer version with better sealing and updated the control module. The release button works perfectly now, and all those annoying error messages are gone. Really glad I asked here before going back to the first mechanic who missed the real problem. The new shop knew exactly what to look for and fixed it right the first time. The fuel door opens smoothly now with both the interior release and the key fob. Worth every cent to have it working properly again. No more awkward moments at the gas station trying to pry open a stuck fuel flap.

Had the same issue on my 2018 S4 last winter. The fuel door wouldnt respond to the release button inside the car, and the key fob unlock command stopped working too. The electric actuator for the fuel flap had failed completely. This is actually a common fault point that can trigger multiple error messages since its tied into the central locking system. The mechanic found the linkage was defective and the actuator motor had burned out. In my case, it was a serious repair since they had to remove parts of the rear quarter panel to access the fuel door mechanism. The entire electric actuator assembly needed replacement, not just the motor. This is because dirt and moisture had damaged the internal components beyond repair. During the fix they also updated the control module software since older versions were known to cause actuator failures. After replacement, all error messages cleared and the fuel door has worked flawlessly with both the interior release button and key fob. Worth noting, dont try forcing the fuel door open when its stuck as this can cause more damage to the linkage and surrounding components. Best to have it properly diagnosed and repaired.
