Mileage: 26529 KM, checked during last service Thanks for sharing your experience. My sun blind issue sounds similar, though mine makes a faint clicking noise when trying to operate it. My 2011 A4 has a gasoline engine. Good to know about the motor unit being the likely culprit. The workshop quote for my car interior repair seems higher at 450 Euro. Wondering if this is because the entire sunblind assembly needs replacement rather than just the motor. The UV protection system had been working perfectly until last month. Did your repair also include a full functionality check of the sun visor controls? Considering getting a second opinion since the price difference is significant.

Thanks for those extra details about your A4. The clicking noise you mentioned is actually different from what I experienced, my car sunshade was completely silent when attempting operation. The clicking could indicate your sun blind mechanism might still have some life in it. For my A6 repair, they did perform a complete system check including all sun visor controls and the window visor sensors. The 450 Euro quote does seem steep if its just the motor unit. My 330 Euro repair covered the full diagnosis, calibration, and testing of the entire sun protection system. Based on the clicking sound, you might be dealing with a less severe issue than a complete motor failure. Could be something like: Debris in the track, Misaligned mechanism, Worn gears in the motor assembly Worth getting that second opinion, make sure they check these potential causes before replacing the entire sunblind unit. The car blind system is complex but doesnt always need complete replacement when issues occur.

Thanks for the detailed follow-up. The clicking noise definitely seems to be the key difference between our issues. Makes sense that my repair quote is higher if they are planning to replace the entire sunblind unit. Will follow your advice and get a second opinion, focusing on checking for debris or misalignment first. The sun protection system worked perfectly for years, so a sudden complete failure seems unlikely. Getting another workshop to inspect the car interior first could save me some money. The 450 Euro quote feels excessive compared to your 330 Euro repair, especially since my issue might be less severe. Will make sure the next workshop checks the sun visor controls and mechanism before suggesting a full replacement. Really hoping its just a minor issue with the UV protection system that can be fixed without major parts replacement. Has helped put things in perspective, thanks for sharing the details about your repair experience.

Had the exact same issue on my 2013 Audi A6 last summer. As someone with moderate DIY car repair experience, I first tried troubleshooting the sun protection system myself but quickly realized the sunshade repair was beyond my skills. The motor of the sunblind was completely dead, no movement or noise when trying to operate it. Took it to a workshop where they confirmed the UV protection mechanism had failed due to a faulty motor unit. The complete repair involved: Removing the headliner to access the sunroof assembly, Replacing the sun visor motor unit, Testing the sunblind operation and calibrating the system Total cost was 330 Euro including parts and labor. The repair took about 3 hours. The sunblind has worked flawlessly since then. What engine type does your A4 have? Also, does the sunblind make any noise when you try to operate it? These details would help determine if you are facing the same issue I had.
