Auris Diesel Fuel Pump Issue

I'm having a perplexing issue with my 2015 Toyota Auris diesel. It has about 156247 km on it. I'm seeing a few things: sometimes the engine won't start, it stalls at idle, the check engine light is on, the engine runs rough, and fuel consumption has increased. Also, a diagnostic scan showed a fuel pump error code. I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump. I've checked the wiring and connections, but I wanted to see if other Auris owners have had this and what you did to figure it out.

That sounds tricky. I'm no expert, but I've read about similar problems. Have you checked the fuel pump relay and the fuel filter? A bad relay can cause intermittent issues, and a clogged filter could strain the pump. Is the battery good? A weak battery can cause strange electrical issues that might affect the fuel pump.

Thanks for the ideas. I haven't checked the fuel pump relay or replaced the fuel filter yet. Can you tell me how to test the fuel pump relay? Also, is there a recommended time to replace the fuel filter on this model, or should I just replace it now?

Testing the relay involves checking for continuity and voltage, but it's hard for me to explain clearly. The filter replacement time should be in your car's manual. If you're not sure, changing the filter is probably a good idea anyway. With the error code and all the symptoms, I'd take it to a workshop to be sure you don't cause more damage.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and it turned out the cable or plug connection was defective. The repair was 95€.
