Fuel efficiency has definitely decreased recently. I haven't tried any DPF cleaning products. What exactly do you mean by 'forced regeneration'?

Forced regeneration is a process where the car actively burns off the soot in the DPF at high temperatures. Some cars do it automatically, others need a mechanic to trigger it with diagnostic tools. Given the decreased fuel efficiency and smoke, it's likely the DPF is heavily clogged or defective. I'd recommend getting a vehicle inspection at a trusted workshop to confirm the issue and discuss repair options.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a local mechanic, and after a vehicle inspection, they confirmed the DPF was indeed defective. I ended up having to replace it, and the repair cost me a hefty 1550€. At least the car is running smoothly again!

I had similar symptoms with my old Opel Insignia. Reduced power and smoke are classic signs of DPF issues. How's your fuel efficiency been? Have you tried any DPF cleaning products or forced regeneration?
