Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the connector. When you say 'connector', are you referring to the plug that connects directly to the fuel filter heater? And where exactly is the fuel filter located on the Auris? Is it easy to access?

Yes, I meant the plug that goes directly into the fuel filter heater. It's worth a look for any signs of corrosion or damage. However, if you are not confident, I would suggest getting it checked by a workshop to be on the safe side. On my Megane, the location of the fuel filter was a bit awkward, and I needed some special tools.

Thanks for the advice! I took my Auris to the workshop. Turns out it was, in fact, a defective cable connection to the fuel filter heater, just like you suspected. They replaced the cable and plug, and everything is running smoothly now. The total cost was 95€.

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my old Renault Megane, although it was a petrol engine. Error codes, reduced power, the whole nine yards. Have you checked the cable and plug connection of the fuel filter heater? That was the problem with my Megane. A corroded connector caused all sorts of havoc.
