Auris Overheating Bypass Valve Issue

I'm experiencing an odd issue with my 2012 Toyota Auris hybrid. The engine's throwing an error related to the bypass valve, and I've noticed some engine overheating. Mileage is at 109056 km. I've checked coolant levels, and there are no obvious leaks. Could this be a vacuum system issue affecting the valve, or perhaps something exhaust-related? The error code suggests a consequential error, rather than a primary fault. Any thoughts?

Interesting. I had a similar scare with my Auris (not sure about the year), and it turned out to be a faulty sensor causing mayhem. Is the engine overheating consistently, or only under certain conditions? What kind of fuel efficiency are you getting?

The overheating seems to occur mostly during longer drives, especially at higher speeds. Fuel efficiency has definitely taken a hit. Which sensor was causing the issue on your Auris? Was it directly related to the bypass valve, or something else entirely?

Ah, longer drives at higher speeds... sounds familiar. In my case, it was the coolant temperature sensor giving false readings, which then messed with the bypass valve and a bunch of other things. It's like a domino effect. I'd suggest getting it checked out by a workshop. They'll be able to pinpoint the exact cause much faster.

Thanks for the insight! Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – faulty coolant temperature sensor. It was indeed causing a cascade of errors. Replaced the sensor, and everything's back to normal. Repair cost was 0€ as it was covered by warranty. Appreciate the help!
