Auris Overheating Check Engine Light

Hi, I'm having some serious issues with my 2006 Toyota Auris diesel. The check engine light keeps coming on, and the engine is overheating like crazy. I even noticed coolant spilling under the car, probably due to too much pressure. I suspect a control unit communication error since the diagnostic trouble code reader points to it, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Mileage is at 123039 km. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar control module problem with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms: check engine light, overheating, coolant leaks. Have you checked the data link connections and wiring harness around the component? Could be a bad connection.

Thanks! Where exactly should I be looking for these connections and the wiring harness? Are there any specific areas known to cause trouble?

It's usually a corroded plug connection. Given the age, the cable is the most likely culprit. In my case with the Astra, it was easier to take it to a workshop to get it sorted out. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! It turned out to be exactly what you said - a defective cable/plug connection. Got it sorted at the shop for 95€. Appreciate the help!
