Avalon Hybrid AC and Error Issues

I'm having a weird issue with my 2012 Toyota Avalon Hybrid. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, plus an error message pops up on the speedometer. Strangely, the air conditioning won't switch on either. I'm suspecting it might be the temperature sensor for the heat exchanger, but could a defective air conditioning control unit also cause these symptoms? The car has 145107 km on it. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms – error message, AC not working – on my old Volvo a few years back. Same temperature sensor issue. Did you check the sensor's wiring and connections?

You know, I haven't specifically checked the wiring. I was so focused on the sensor itself. Was it a difficult fix on your Volvo? Was the defective sensor causing similar HVAC issues?

Yeah, turns out it was the wiring harness in my case, corroded and causing a bad reading. If the wiring is ok, the sensor itself could be faulty. I'd say, get it checked out at the workshop. Will save you a headache.

Thanks a lot for the advice! It seems like the problem was indeed the temperature sensor heat exchanger. Also, the AC control unit was defective. The repair cost me around 980€, but at least everything is working fine now. I appreciate the help!
