Avancier Windshield Wipers Not Working

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2020 Honda Avancier (gasoline engine). The windshield wipers have completely stopped working. It's not the end of the world right now, but with the rainy season coming, it’s a must-fix. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. The washer fluid still sprays when I pull the lever, but the wipers themselves are dead. I even hooked it up to an OBD scanner, and there's an error stored related to the wiper motor circuit. Could a faulty wiring harness be the culprit? Any ideas before I start tearing the whole thing apart?

Summary of the thread

The windshield wipers on a 2020 Honda Avancier stopped working, despite the washer fluid still spraying. An OBD scanner indicated an error related to the wiper motor circuit. A possible cause suggested was a faulty wiring harness, specifically a corroded connector at the wiper motor. The solution involved inspecting and cleaning the connector, which resolved the issue, restoring the wipers to full functionality.

Greetings. I encountered a similar problem with my 2017 BMW 3 Series, also with a gasoline engine. The wipers ceased functioning intermittently, and eventually, they stopped altogether. The error codes pointed towards the wiper motor, but the actual issue was a corroded connector in the wiring harness leading to the motor. Did you inspect the cable or plug connection of the component, specifically looking for signs of corrosion or damage? In my case, the cruise control was also affected, so this may be another angle for exploration, too.

Thanks for the quick reply! Cruise control seems fine, thankfully. But you mentioned a corroded connector - where exactly was this connector located? Was it near the wiper motor itself, or somewhere else along the wiring harness? Any tips on how to best access it without causing further damage? I'm trying to avoid going to the dealership if I can, but I'm not exactly a mechanic either.

The connector on my BMW was situated directly at the wiper motor itself, beneath the plastic cowling that covers the base of the windshield. Accessing it involved removing the wiper arms and the cowling – a relatively straightforward process, but do exercise caution to avoid damaging the windshield or the plastic trim. Given that your Avancier is a different make and model, the location might vary slightly, but I would recommend commencing your inspection at the motor. Due to error stored in the error memory, and the potential complexity of diagnosing electrical faults, I would suggest seeking the expertise of a qualified technician. The repair cost may be in the region of 95€.

Thanks so much for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on – it was a corroded connector at the wiper motor. They cleaned it up and replaced a small section of the wiring harness. Wipers are working perfectly now, and the total bill was pretty much what you predicted. Really appreciate the help!
